Blackberry Torch 9800 is the first smartphone running with Blackberry 6 OS and can provide you with a combined touch-qwerty experience. With the usual core on messaging, Blackberry gives Torch 9800 a touchscreen, a signature BB keyboard and a precision trackpad.

Apart from the redesigned layout, Torch 9800 has pretty much starring features under the fabulous Blackberry 6 OS. The integrated social-networking BM which includes Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc can keep you updated in social life. The built-in YouTube and Podcast give you nothing but a great visual excitement. The starring WebKit-based browser together with multi-touch and auto-wrap text zoom just let you go faster and truer during web-browsing. Last but not least, the brilliant Universal Search makes you the fastest to search for stuffs in the phone.

The screen of Torch 9800 is a 3.2-inch, HVGA+ 480x360 pixel TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen. Below the screen are the trackpad and the slider keyboard. When it is closed it measures at 111mm high while it is 148mm high when it is opened. If you are using the on-screen keyboard, you have a variety of choices like portrait SureType®, QWERTY and multi-tap, and landscape QWERTY. Whichever you like, it is nothing more than convenient while texting with Torch 9800. The model is now available with preference of different colours. (red, black, white)

If you prefer using the keyboard, the slide-out QWERTY of Torch will not disappoint you. What Blackberry describes it is: “It slides up with a strong, springy motion”. So we leave it to you to feel how good it is.

Torch has a black and plastic design that you will feel great in hand. Its stylish design favors from males to females, from business to leisure users.

At the back there is the camera, a “Torch” logo and the Blackberry signature. The camera is a 5MP one, with flash, 2X digital zoom, continuous auto-focus and image stabilization, plus 11 photo modes and video recording.

At the edges of Torch it is surrounded by shiny silver metal. A 3.5mm stereo headset jack is at the left side of the phone.

Generally, Blackberry Torch 9800 is a powerful, brilliant and multi-functional smartphone, a good one for business users. But if we compare it to Android and Apple, there are obviously fewer games and apps in Blackberry. If you ask for media, game or video excitements, we’re afraid Torch may not sound perfect to you.
