UMID F1 Ultra-Mobile 7-inch Notebook PC Unboxing Pictures & Review
UMID F1 is a revolution of technology. It is a computer device combining mobile PC, navigation and multimedia, which is especially made for cars. The idea of having an ultra-mobile computer for me is pretty interesting. It is a full touchscreen computer, so everything is really at the tip of my fingers and the stylus. Let’s take a brief look at what the seven-incher can deliver.
The package comes with the UMID F1 PC body, a car-kit with car charger; a battery pack; an AC adaptor; a cradle, an air-suction cup; a stylus; a pouch and a remote control.
The PC has a Samsung 7” WVGA TFT LCD. The screen is highly sensitive and easy to use. The stylus is cleverly hidden on the top left hand corner and there’s a microphone and remote control sensor on the top right hand corner. Although it is claimed to be made for car, with dimensions of 192 x 125 x 25 mm, it’s pretty convenient to carry around.
It can stand on the cradle like this and fits just perfectly for a car. There is a built-in SiRF III Antenna and GPS Module for smooth navigation. The graphics are 3-D and look very attractive.
Here’s the car charger so that you won’t experience a blackout even during long distance travelling.
There is a USIM port for WiMAX/HSDPA, ATSM Cable Port, Mini USB port and Expansion I/O Port on the left side of the body. It also supports WiBro, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connection, going on line with this device is as smooth as any other bulkier PCs.
There are two USB 2.0 ports and a Headphone/Speaker Line Out on the right side of PC.
The cradle can be turned 360-degree around. It is convenient for whoever sitting in the car to view it.
The device has a free-trial window XP home edition for 30 days. It is XP, VISTA and Linux compatible, so you can install your own OS. The CPU is a VIA C7-M Processor (128Kbyte L2 Cache / 1.2GHz FSB) which is the smallest CPU Package. To prevent driving under influence, there is a pre-installed alcohol sensor to for instant breath test. It really is a multi-tasking device.
