LG KF350 "Ice Cream" Unboxing Review

Although it may not be the best season to have a cup of cold, tasty ice cream, the LG KF 350 “Ice Cream” was certainly released in the right season. The LG KF350 combines innovation, function and design in a reasonably compact body, and it comes with a friendly price tag. Will it be the best phone for Christmas gifts? Let’s find out now.The package comes with the phone, a battery, a charger and a user’s guide.

The phone does not have the slimmest dimension. It is certainly not RAZR-thin at 14.8mm, but it can slip into any pocket easily. The 3MP camera is hidden nicely in the front cover.

The phone is quite long when it’s flipped open, so the microphone is quite close to my lips, which might play some part in the excellent clarity in voice call. Since it is quite wide, you may need some practice before you can grip it securely.

The keys are HUGE, typing on the LG KF350 is a very pleasant experience. The 4-way keys are much more separated than the usual D-pad, and the camera button is poorly positioned at the usual “Cancel” button location. These are just minor imperfections and I am sure you can adjust to them soon.

The microSD card slot is protected by a silvery plastic. You can change the card without turning off the phone.

The 2.2” screen makes the best use of the space. It’s got 240 x 320 pixels which is particularly useful for the bundled Google Map application.

All the usual functions are there: web browser, email composer, calculator, alarm clocks, and 2 games. The RSS reader and Google Map are very welcomed as well.

The selling point of this phone is the external LED display. You can edit the message in the Settings tab. Can u guess what that is?

Flipping it down and the LED will start blinking…

We changed it to PLEMIX! When you flip it close, the front cover will display the message you entered. It’s not limited to letters, and you can create icons and symbols to your liking. The phone comes with some pretty cute built-in icons, too. Don’t worry about the battery, the hidden LED display drains little energy only.

I like the large keys and screen a lot. The browser and Google Maps are nice to have, but their applications are somewhat limited by the lack of 3G support. Nevertheless, the RSS reader and music player should provide plenty of entertainment, not to mention the ability to edit the front screen to express your feeling.
