Samsung i900 Omnia UnBoxing

To talk about PDA phones, all eyes are on HTC Diamond and iPhone 3G right now. I am so happy to see Samsung launches i900 as a strike back. As a consumer, of course I would love to see more diversifications. It is so glad that i900 is Windows Mobile 6.1 ready which helps you stay mobile by making available every tool, application, and convenience from your office. In addition, i900 support DIVX that I can watch any movie files without conversion of format on i900, it has TV-out plug in also. With the massive memory, i900 is just a portable cinema. It is almost heavenly for a movie fan like me.

The package includes the i900 phone, a battery, a charger, a hand-free set with 2 pairs of ear plugs, a USB cable, a CD ROM, a user guide and a Stylus.

A TFT WQVGA touchscreen of i900 which is of the same resolution as HTC diamond but its big screen might attract some of the users who love an elevated visual experience. There is a front camera for video call on the top right hand side.

The case is covered in plastic and the linear pattern at the back provides the phone with a subtle elegance. It is very slim with a width of only 12.5mm. There are switches for Bluetooth(A2DP stereo),WiFi and GPS which provide easier access.

The Stylus for hand-writing is light and chic and works together with the super sensitive TouchWiz screen efficiently.

The in-ear earphones are the best partner for good music with stereo-sound.

It has built-in 8GB or 16GB memory with a capacity to upgrade to 16GB maximum with microSD. However, users have to remove the battery to get access to the memory card slot. It is a bit clumsy.

You can edit your own menu of the widgets to have an instant access to your favorite functions by 'drag and drop’ onto their touchscreen to suit your personal needs. It’s amazing.

Samsung TouchWiz interface is simple and clear with colorful iconic menu which gives the elegant phone a user-friendly and playful touch.

GPS is integrated with Google Map. Users can find their location and route easily.

i900 can switch between HSDPA, WiFi and other connections smoothly.

Users can change between several input methods with a little simple click.

The following picture shows the intelligent Samsung Keyboard with touchscreen Qwerty keyboard.

The performance of the camera of i900 can be claimed top-notch. The face detection captures the object accurately.

There are 5 shooting modes for users to choose.

AutoFocus is enabled for a quick snap.

It shows the file details of the picture you take. And if GPS is turned on, it may even point out the altitudes and latitudes of the picture.

Actual photo shot by the phone in an indoor office lighting environment indoor with face detection. Look at how good the quality is!

This picture is taken with flash shows how powerful the flash is. It can assure you certain quality still even if there is not enough light.

I would say i900 can share the spotlight with iPhone 3G and HTC Touch Diamond as it complements the setbacks of both of them. It has a powerful camera, it supports video call, it has a big screen for greater multi-media experience, and the Windows software is user-friendly. On the whole, it is a very satisfactory phone.
